Thom Walstrum and Pete Stewart came out for a short visit. I dropped them off at a Shell Station in Issaquah so they could start their hitchhiking journey home. Don't worry. They made it, and are now back on Chicago's South Side.
In April we got antsy and planted a miniature garden on our back porch in an old school locker we bought at the Re-Use store for $10. Peas, carrots, cilantro, and broccoli starts. But...then...
We found out we got a P-Patch! (A P-Patch is a community garden plot. You pay a small fee of about $30 to garden year-round. And in Seattle you really can garden year round!) We transplanted our carrots and broccoli, and bought some other yummy etibles.
Ryan's younger sister Sharon came out for a visit from Boston. Yes, that is Starbucks we are drinking. But don't worry...we only drink it at the original Starbucks when guests are in town! Sharon accompanied us on the largest immigrant rights march yet (in Seattle), helped me shop for 200 refugees, and rode the ferry too! Thanks for the visit Sharon!
Kurt Weber happened to be in town while Sharon was visiting. Here we are eating mochi balls...We really love mochi.
Ryan's parents came to visit us for the Ryan's Birthday/Mother's Day weekend. We crammed a lot of adventures into one weekend: eating at the Space Needle (grace a Aunt Mary and Co.), venturing to Hurricane Ridge on the Olympic Penninsula, and perusing Pike's Place Market.
The Folklife Festival was on this weekend. Here's Ryan with friends Dorothy and Luke (listening to a rockin' Peruvian band). Lots of fun and loosy-goosy folks!
